Janine Betsey is the President and CEO of Merchants Affordable Housing Corp. Mrs. Betsey has more than 15 years of local housing development experience. Under Mrs. Betsey's leadership, MAHC has added over 1300 unit to the portfolio, closing on $60 million dollars of HUD backed debt, and $18 million dollars of LIHTC and HTC equity. Mrs. Betsey is the Vice President of the ReNew Indianapolis Board of Directors, and she serves on The Indianapolis Blueprint Council. She was recognized as one of the 2010 Indianapolis Business Journal’s 40 under 40, a 2010 NUVO cultural visionary, and one of 2013’s Women to Watch by the Indianapolis Star.
Julia Kaercher is the Vice President of Program Development of Merchants Affordable Housing Corp. Julia assists in project development and funding applications for MAHC and its consulting clients as well as planning community events. Julia started her career in multi-family housing as a part-time volunteer, here at MAHC in 2014. She has grown and excelled in the art of writing applications as she has helped to secure funding from multiple institutions. In 2017, she orchestrated the first community service event where over 50 volunteers helped to landscape six of MAHCs buildings.
Chase Schulte is the Development Analyst for Merchants Affordable Housing Corp. Chase oversees the asset management and compliance for MAHC and client owned properties and assists with project development and funding applications for MAHC and client projects. He began his career in community development as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Hearts & Hands of Indiana. Chase was the CDBG Program Coordinator for the City of Indianapolis. Recently, Chase was Project Manager for the Department of Metropolitan Development, overseeing City-owned real estate development and disposition and managed CDBG funding for special projects.
Andrew Griffin comes from a service background, has a Business Administration Degree and joined MAHC as a Development Analyst/Service Director. Andrew has direct experience with case management and coordinating services for clients. Andrew completed the requirements to become a Rental Housing Development Finance Professional in February 2019. He works closely with each Service Coordinator in the MAHC portfolio to assure compliance with HUD/contract guidelines. Additionally, Andrew oversees the asset management and compliance for MAHC and client owned properties and assists with project development and funding applications for MAHC and client projects.
Greg Stocking is the Housing Assistance Director and Development Analyst for Merchants Affordable Housing Corp. He brings program management and compliance experience to MAHC and client owned properties and assists with project development and funding applications for MAHC and client projects. Greg has experience overseeing federal housing and grant programs on behalf of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and the City of Indianapolis including HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher, Project-Based Section 8, and other rental assistance programs targeted to at-risk populations. He holds industry certifications in public housing administration, financial management, fair housing, and inspections.
